No! We like to say getting wet is optional! By following our recommended procedure to clean filters, you will have full control over the spinning speed. We recommend spinning at a slow and controlled speed which will get the filters cleaner and is very efficient. Slow and controlled will not get you messy and wet.

The included wand attaches to a standard garden hose. The tripod stand is easy to set up on flat surfaces. You set your dirty filter onto the stand. The filter sits on the bottom retainer which houses a stainless steel ball bearing. This is what allows the filter to spin freely when you spray the filter with water pressure. The slow spinning action exposes all of the pleats to a strong stream of water that will flush out all of the debris. Filter cleaning becomes a systematic, super efficient and satisfying experience!

The Cyclone Filter Cleaner accommodates standard pool filters with 3" openings. These are the filters found in most "quad" filters that contain 4 filter elements. For single-element pool filters with 4" and 6" interior openings you will need to also purchase our "XL Adapters". These single-element filters for example are popular in Florida.

Stronger water pressure will allow you to clean your filters faster. But weak water pressure, while not ideal, is still able to spin your filter as you clean it and keep you from bending over.

For "quad pool filters" we recommend cleaning once per quarter (4 times per year). This ensures that your filter gets cleaned before it becomes very clogged with debris and impedes water flow. For single-element filters we recommend cleaning once a month during swim season and every 6 weeks if the pool is not in use.

Yes. Be careful not to trip or fall on the secured rod and make sure other people and pets are safe around the filter cleaning area you have selected. Always monitor children if you allow them to clean filters with the Cyclone Filter Cleaner so they use it in a safe manor. Always collapse the tripod stand when finished and store it in a dry area when not in use.
